Allergy and how it should be treated

You have certainly experienced an allergy attack at least once in your life. It may be caused by some dust or some pollen. It is important to study allergies and its causes because you can get an allergy attack anytime. If you do not treat the allergy properly then you will risk your health and even your life. There are a lot of causes of allergy. Allergens are what trigger allergy attacks. They may come in the following forms: plant pollen, food such as seafood, peanuts, eggs, and milk, drugs, insects, and sometimes material such as latex. If you take in any of the aforementioned substances or if you come into contact with the aforementioned substances then you may experience several allergy attacks. They may come in the following forms: swelling and runniness of the nose, rashes on the skin, redness and itchiness of the eyes, difficulty in breathing, and sometimes even headaches.

There are several ways of diagnosing if a person is allergic to something or not. The most common and most popular method of testing for allergy is the skin test. In this method, the doctor cuts a portion of your skin and inserts the suspected allergen into it. You will wait for around thirty to forty five minutes for a result to happen. If there is no reaction then your allergy may have been caused by something else. Another test must be conducted. If there is a hostile reaction to the allergen then you are allergic to that substance. If you inserted peanut oil into your skin and it flames up after thirty minutes then you will be advised to avoid peanuts to prevent your allergy attacks. The skin test is the most preferred method of testing by doctors nowadays because of its efficiency and its economics. There are some drawbacks of the skin test though but these cases are already very isolated. In some cases, the allergy will appear on the patient’s skin not after thirty minutes but after six to seven hours! It will also be difficult to use the skin test on someone with previous skin problems.

If you know that you have allergies then you should be able to treat it. How will you get allergy relief ? If you are having very itchy skin then how will you reduce the swelling and the itchiness? If your eyes are getting very red then how will you reduce the redness? If you are having a runny nose and your sinus seems to be infected then how will you get a sinus infection treatment? If you are having difficulty breathing then how will you catch your breathe in the middle of an allergy attack? There are several ways of treating allergy. One way where allergy is treated is through immunotherapy. The patient takes small portions of the allergen day by day until he or she is already immune to the allergen. Another way where immunotherapy will work is by injecting anti-IgE antibodies to get rid of the allergic response. Aside from immunotherapy, another way where allergy can be treated is through chemotherapy. The use of antagonistic drugs will cure the patient of the allergy. If you are uncomfortable treating your allergy with all sorts of medical technology and drugging then you might want to consider alternative treatments for allergy. You may opt for herbal medicine or kinesiology if you want. If you happen to have allergy then you simply have to deal with it.

If you have allergies then you are probably pointing fingers already. Who is to blame for your allergy? Aside from the allergens, what is the main root cause of allergy? If you have allergy and you look at your parents then there is a very high chance that they have had allergies too. Genetics is one of the main root causes of allergies. Aside from genetics, there are also theories going around that excessive hygiene in the world has caused more and more people to be allergic to substances. The number of allergies in people has increased over the past couple of years. Since people are not exposed to common dirt then they will not be able to develop antibodies for these. This is only a theory and must still be proven.
